Berlin Streaming

It's a deal: We'll be able to live-stream from Berlin the crowdfunding event with @ & @ on Sat. 8/13 8-11am EST

I just hope, I didn’t promise too much…

Since I’ve never before tried anything like streaming an event, I had this stream of second and third thoughts going through my head: Will the webcam make good pictures? Will the stream be stable? Will the light in the movie-theatre be sufficient? Will the sound be good? Will the content be interesting? Will anybody be watching? Will… will… willl… – will it work at all?

But as a very smart person once said, you can’t dissolve your fears within your thinking – only within reality. So I’m thinking, why not just give it a try…

technical setup

streaming setupSince I have to carry the stuff on the train from Munich to Berlin, I am going for the light version: A MacBook Air, an external Logitech C910 webcam, gaffer-taped to a Cullman mini-tripod.

On location, I’ll be getting a lot of help from Heiko, an employee of Eiszeit-Kino, the movie theatre that hosts our event. He’ll set up a WLAN connection for us at 6000/600 kbit/s (downstream/upstream), which should be sufficient for standard definition video.

twitter-chat: #aywrEU

For those of you who are tuning in from all over the world, there will be a twitter chat (#aywrEU). We’ll project the twitter-stream onto the theatre screen during the entire event, so I think there will be a good discussion going.

Thanks to @albiedo, Eiszeit-Kino, @fnafilms, @gumpelmaier, @lmcnelly, and to the donors and participants for creating this event.

“A mystery, stripped down to a character drama.

Adored by audiences and critics alike.”

Those of us, who can’t come to the screening of Lucas McNelly’s film BLANC DE BLANC are recommeded to watch it at www.blancdeblancfilm.com – it’s worth a dime ;-)

This is my first blogpost. My friends, take a look at the blogroll on the right – without you, and many others, my voyage would not be possible!
